I / We have voluntarily employed Summerwind Canines, instructor Jean N. Gauchat to assist me in the care, boarding and training of this dog. I understand that Jean N. Gauchat will work with me and my pet to impart contemporary animal behavior knowledge that best fits our needs and that successful companion pet programs depend on a combination of learned skills on the part of the pet and owner.
Behavior is not static; an animal will not continue to perform even trained behaviors without ongoing practice. I understand that the effectiveness of completed training program depends upon many factors over which the trainer has no control. Such factors include, but are not limited to, the future health of the dog, the frequency and effectiveness of training practice and correct reinforcement which the owner must learn and give the dog. Especially in cases involving any type of aggression, although behavior may be modified, the dog is never considered "cured." A pet's behavior is ultimately the owner's responsibility. The trainer will make every reasonable effort to help us attain our goals but makes no guarantees of performance on the part of us (the owner) or our pet as a result of providing professional animal behavior instruction & consultation.
I acknowledge that agility training, obedience training / behavior modification may be an activity in which damage of injury to dog and / or person may occur. Owner will assume full financial / moral responsibility for the actions of their dog. I further acknowledge that dogs may be exposed to a variety of environmental conditions which include, but are not limited to, vehicular travel, interaction with people and other animals, exposure to adverse weather and exposure to areas with crowds, and all types of traffic.
I agree that I, my heirs, assignees and legal representatives will not make claim against, sue, or attach the property of Trainer, her family, acquaintances, or any other person acting on her behalf, for injury or damage to myself or my dog, or any other persons accompanying me to training during the course of this training. I forever release Jean N. Gauchat and her agents from any and all liability and demands and assume all risks myself.
This contract for training services super cedes all other agreements written or oral, previously made between myself and Trainer.
