Continued socialization with other puppies of the same age and with new puppy owners.
Basic Manners Class
Just finished the puppy series? Want to start training and bonding with your new companion the right way? Effective communication is key – learn how your dog thinks, so you can teach them in a way that is easy for them to learn. Often, it can be tough trying to control those testing teenagers. This class focuses on behavior problem solving, impulse control, barking, jumping, counter surfing, and obedience commands such as “come”, “heel”, “sit”, “down”, “stay”, “watch me”, “no jumping”, “go to bed”, and “leave it”. Teach your dog to come when called with enthusiasm, no matter the distraction!
Beyond Basic Manners Class
Advancing your dog obedience skills includes more socialization skills, both dog-to-dog and dog-to-people. You will learn more behaviors and tricks, such as teaching your dog to walk politely on a leash, “heel” both on and off-leash, “watch me”, “no jumping” (teaching your dog not to jump up on people), “stay” from a sit or down, “down” on recall, “stand still”, “go to bed”, “leave it” (how to ignore food and other distractions), “take it” (how to gently take things such as food and toys), how to properly play tug, food games, and sit/down from motion cues, play hide and seek, and more.
Learn from one of the best dog show handlers in Northern California. If you need to get your puppy into the show ring, this is a great place to start. Both beginner and experienced show dogs and handlers will gain valuable experience with each class you attend, learning tips and tricks to be a winning team at the dog show!
Agility is a fun team sport, offering great mental and physical exercise for dogs and their owners. If you’re tired of obedience training, and want something new for your active dog, then agility training is a wonderful option! You and your dog will be trained to navigate through an obstacle course including apparatus such as weave poles, tunnels, jumps, the dog walk, and the A-frame. Your dog won’t be the only one learning something new! Dog owners are guided to become agility handlers, providing a fresh way to bond and communicate with your dog. Many of our dog and handler teams choose to enter competitive agility trials, earning AKC, NADAC and other agility titles.
